2 men injured in late evening shooting in Belize City

Just before news time this evening, several shots rang out in the Queen Square area, approximately a block away from the Raccoon Street Police Station.  Two Belize City youths were hit by what is described as a barrage of bullets, as they stood in a yard near the Wesley Upper Primary School. Details are sketchy at this time, but News Five understands that a young male person of dark complexion, wearing a black T-shirt, rode up on a bicycle and started firing. Witnesses told News Five that the man then calmly rode off while pushing the gun back into his pants. Unconfirmed reports are that two youths from the neighborhood, one of them identified as Marvin Phillips, were rushed to the K.H.M.H. The extent of their injuries remains unknown, but at news time, scenes of crime personnel were processing the scene on Armadillo Street. News Five will have more on this latest act of gun violence in the Old Capital in Wednesday’s newscast.
