U.D.P. Convention; “Hutchy” says party has left him out in the cold

Michael Hutchinson

On Sunday, the United Democratic Party will hold one of its final constituency conventions in Belize Rural Central, and it promises to be hotly contested. Michael Hutchinson has been in the area since 2008, when he defeated political powerhouse Ralph Fonseca. He was then defeated in 2012 by Dolores Balderamos Garcia, but has remained in the area as a U.D.P. caretaker. Hutchinson is not ready to throw in the political towel just yet, but his bosses apparently have other plans for him.  Today, Hutchinson told News Five that when he asked for support, he was told that the government was not playing the support game…but he’s not convinced they were being truthful. Still, he is confident that he will be victorious on Sunday.

“We see otherwise on Facebook, but for now, I can say that the party is totally, one hundred percent behind somebody. If that is the case, it is unfair because I have been the caretaker for the party for the past two years without a salary. I was told by the party that you don’t get a salary as being the caretaker. So I’ve been managing on my own through help from independent sources; I am getting there. So if that is the modus of the party then it is sad. That is a sad, sad state for the party to be throwing all the finances behind someone else. I haven’t did the party any wrong so I don’t see we have any animosity for them to be supporting one candidate to the max and then leaving out the other. Wherever these candidates are getting their money from—I guess it is from private sources—the same as I am doing.”

“But let’s cut right to the chase. I’ve watched the same Facebook pages that you are referring to and we see Bev Castillo…a lot of works happening—the streets, the drains, all kinds of things—is it your opinion and from what you’ve heard because you are still an insider—maybe not with the hierarchy of the party, but you are an insider with the U.D.P.  From what you’ve heard, is it your decided opinion that she is being supported by this government—be it financially, logistically, with resources; that kind of thing?”

Michael Hutchinson

“If that is the case, like I said, it is sad to know that I was there. But going around campaigning, the people of Belize Rural Central are wise. They are saying to me, well Hutchy if all that resources is there, why wasn’t it being spent a long time. You know I have some people that I would take to meet with the different ministries to show them how we go about requesting works for our constituency and they would hear the kind of answers that I would get. No money noh deh; wait until after the budget; wait until this; wait until that. And so those people in Belize Rural Central are wise people and I believe if that is the case that is happening, they will make their choice and they will prove that if there is finance to be spent on Belize Rural Central, well then spend it. And I much say that the people of Belize Rural Central and myself would take a different approach when we are asking for assistance for Belize Rural Central. If it is going to come in by one person who you desired over others, then it is time for a different area for us to take our message to our government.”

Mike Rudon

“But you categorically state that heading up to convention, you have not received any support from the government?”

Michael Hutchinson

“I have not received any support from the government.”

Mike Rudon

“Neither financial or with resources or with help from Ministry of Works?”

Michael Hutchinson

“Nothing…I was told by the Ministry of Works one spell, bwai we can’t run no works through you right now even though we know you were the caretaker or is the caretaker.”

Belize City councilor Dean Samuels has also thrown his hat into the race for the seat in Belize Rural Central.

Hutchy, you’re crying now because you’re being left out of the sweets. You had your own hustle going and now the party stabbed you in your back. You had one family who helped you with construction, even though the principals may be more partial to PUP, just because of the way PUP treated them; they helped you and you’re around them every day and you didn’t even throw them a bone. Then, you had a crew from Sandhill, whom you could depend upon, through friendship with your wife, and you turned on them also. You and Castro have a surprise coming. “People no as fool as yu think” (Wid mi broad Creole). Pau-back is a b…h!

Ahh yes Beverly Castillo, She is the greatest Yes-woman in history of Belize. She and Compol must be the most obedient puppets. Both will be rewarded justly.
Sorry Hutchy, she was very obedient to her masters and she will be justly rewarded to become area rep. You have already reached your expiration date, you are no longer of use.
