P.U.P. says it will support B.N.T.U. at its rally on Friday
The B.N.T.U. will also be getting some support from another source at its rally on Friday in Belmopan. Today, P.U.P. Leader Francis Fonseca confirmed that the party will be on Independence Hill showing their solidarity with teachers and public officers.
Francis Fonseca, P.U.P. Leader
“Well obviously all the leaders of the P.U.P. will be at the national assembly on Friday; it’s a House meeting, the budget is being presented. And yes, we have supported the B.N.T.U., we continue to support them; we have discussed this Friday’s rally with them as well and we are prepared to give them whatever support we can. Primarily the western caucus of the party will be joining in with the teachers to show our support. We respect the teachers and we don’t want to make their rally political at all, but we will also in the west being bringing out our people as a show of support for the teachers, but also to make a very clear statement about how we feel about conditions in our country today which is something the teachers have spoken very strongly about as well. So we will be out there in support.”
