Honduran national found illegally living in Belize

On Tuesday, twenty-two-year-old Melvin Antonio Avilez Cruz, a Honduran national was found living in Belize illegally. Cruz, who was unrepresented, appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser where he was read a single charge for being illegally in Belize. He pleaded guilty and was fined one thousand dollars and was ordered to pay forthwith or in default six months in prison. The Immigration Department also made an application to have Cruz deported back home to his native country of Honduras. That order was granted and Cruz will be deported at the completion of his jail term, since he was unable to pay the fine. On Tuesday at approximately eleven a.m., Cruz was handed over to immigration officials, after being picked up in the Ladyville area by a team of police officers on routine patrol.

Why is this news? This action is a stupid act of waste of our resources and taxes. For $50 can put him across the border. So why spend $10,000 to keep him locked up? This is so stupid . But dis da Belize!!!

I am surprised that this is news simply because there are sooooo many people currently living in Belize without proper documentation. Is it that Immigration don’t know or is it there is not much to care about the situation ? In every district its the same damn thing. Tell you this, if GOB was serious about getting rid of illegal immigrants they could start doing raids and ask around in town or neighborhoods who is legal and who is not, its that easy . Belize is a tiny country every one knows every one. What even happens to the comments that are posted here anyways, are they followed and looked into or is is just for others to read ? If that is the case then i hope am not wasting my time.
