Dale Reynaud says his name has been tainted by a murder he didn’t commit

On Thursday, January thirtieth, forty-three-year-old Sittee River resident Ana Foster left home to go visit her son. She never reached his home. Early the next morning her lifeless body was found in an orange orchard in the village. She had been raped and murdered. One man was detained shortly after, though that information was never officially released. Dale Reynaud was picked up by police that Friday and locked down. He was never charged for the murder of Foster, but instead charged for an unrelated burglary and remanded to prison. He’s out on bail now, but feels that all eyes in Sittee River are still on him for the Foster murder. In fact, he’s had to come into Belize City to find work. According to Reynaud, he submitted a swab for DNA testing while in lockdown, and he wants to know when those results will come in so he can proclaim his innocence and finally be publicly vindicated.

Dale Reynaud, Detained for Foster Murder

Dale Reynaud

“I was at work when my boss told me they wanted to see me because I told my common law wife that I used to live with when I passed the lady and where I passed the lady, to establish a timeframe when the lady left the village. When I got by the Police station in Sittee River right away they put me in the Police vehicle and took me to Dangriga Hospital with the body in the back of the vehicle which I didn’t have any knowledge…I didn’t even look in the back of the vehicle to see the lady body in the back of the vehicle. When I get to Dangriga morgue like it was advertisement see the killer there…he raped and killed the lady…the way how everybody attitude and emotion was. So I had no problem…I just hung around and helped them put the lady in the morgue, and went to the station thinking only a statement they wanted from me. They put me in a cell. For five days I was there making no noise, since the lady was a close friend of ours. After five days I decided to start to ask them…since they found sperm in the lady and thing under her nail, why not take my sample, sperm from me or whatever. So they decided to swab me. After swabbing me…thinking that they were going to release me after swabbing me…they called for the Police in Hopkins, Corporal Martinez, and he brought me a burglary charge and put me in prison…saying that the whole village wanted to kill me so they put me in prison to protect me. Basically it caused me to lose my job, because the Chairman told me that if he hired me it would spoil his reputation. And down the road, a couple days after, even my common-law wife told me that I had to find somewhere to go and had to move out, because it didn’t feel right – the threats were coming to her that they were going to burn down our house and all kinds of negative things from the people in the village due to the murder thing with this woman. I just wah seh to the people of Sittee River to just wait until the DNA comes back to mek we prove who kill the lady…because DNA noh lie.”

This afternoon, News Five checked with the Dangriga Police Formation and were told that nobody has been formally charged for the Foster murder. As to Reynaud’s claim, we were asked to call back for any additional information since details would need to be verified.

Yes, but when I approached certain principals with connection to government and KHMH with advice and advancement tips, the accept free knowledge from me as a Molecular Biologist (emphasis in Genetics), but they don’t want to pay for other stuff and consultation because there’s no hustle to be made. This one will be botched also, because most of the police can hardly read their own names. Let’s hope he’s not being falsely accused.
