2 shootings in the Old Capital

Early in the newscast, we told you about two persons who lost their lives in separate incidents. But in the City, two persons were injured in unrelated shootings over the weekend. Just before five on Friday evening, a fifteen year old student was shot to the right foot as he played with some friends in an abandoned lot on Antelope Street. According to reports, two male persons riding on separate bicycles were seen chasing a man in the direction of Central American Boulevard. Upon reaching the corner of the Boulevard and Antelope Street, the bicycle assailants made an about turn and heading towards Sea Gull Street. But before leaving the area, one of the men pointed a firearm towards the minors and fired several shots in their direction hitting the fifteen year old.

Two days later, the gun violence continued. Around eleven-thirty Sunday night, Ronnie Leal, an eighteen gas attendant of Lords Bank, was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for a gunshot wound to the left side of abdomen. Leal was said to have been travelling in a car on Kraal Road in south side Belize City with another person when someone fired several shots towards the vehicle. Both incidents are not believed to be related and police continue to investigate.
