P.U.P. women ask for full financial disclosure of Simplis-Barrow’s projects

Yolanda Rodriguez

The Inspiration Center opened its doors to special needs children across Belize in March.  While the modern facility has been celebrated as a premium care giving center, the women of the People’s United Party are asking for full financial disclosure, particularly for monies raised during various telethons and other fundraisers held abroad prior to the completion of the project.  Special Envoy for Women and Children Kim Simplis-Barrow fell in the crosshairs of the women of the P.U.P.

Yolanda Rodriguez, Member, People’s United Party

“We the women of the People’s United Party ask her where is the transparency and accountability for the national and international fundraising done for the Special Envoy for the Inspiration Center?  More emphasis has to be given to the economic empowerment of women such as the pledges contained in our own People’s United Party Women’s Agenda.  I want to end today by saying that I challenge the Special Envoy for Women and Children to stop the posing and to meet with real women.  Take off your glamorous clothes, get on the ground and experience firsthand the real problems that our women and families are facing each other.  If you are afraid I will reach out across political lines and take you to these areas.  I challenge you Mrs. Special Envoy, do not use your position for self promotion but for the good of our children, our Belizean women and our children and our families.”

The inspiration center official opened its doors on March twenty-seventh.

You are so mistaken. Mrs. Yolanda is a good person and she really cares of the people of Belize. With a person like her we can find the proper accountability of the Inspiration Center. In Belize there is a lot of poverty and we want the Belizean people to benefit as a whole whether it be pup or udp or nip but Belizeans.

It’s sad to see women attack Ms. Schakron personally instead of focusing on the issues raised. The hardship that Belizean women and children are facing. No one is jealous of Mrs. Barrow. Can’t be jealous of such a shameless and disconnected person.
