ComPol says no promotions issued recently
Officers of varying ranks from across the police department are often invited to sit an annual exam to determine their eligibility for promotion. In the past a majority of those who have sat the test have done well. Others, in recent years, have simply failed to leave a lasting academic impression of police officers on the public. Nonetheless, reports have been circulating that officers are being unduly promoted, causing a rift within the department. Today, Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie told the media that there have not been any recent promotions and that the hearsay is unfounded.
Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police
“First time I’m hearing that there is any dissension or there is any issue of promotion. I know a number of persons passed their promotional exams, a number appeared before the board. We’ve gotten those recommendations and as a policy group we look at those recommendations and we are making recommendations for persons to be promoted. So it’s news to me you’re saying that people have been promoted because I’m certain none have been promoted.”

“I see. So no promotions have gone through at this time…”
Allen Whylie
“No promotions have gone through at this time. Recommendations have been submitted for the persons who we believe has the necessary competence and skills and qualities and experience to be promoted. Whenever there are issues of promotions there will always be a lot of rumors and the truth is everybody cannot be promoted and so we have got to try as much as possible to get the cream of the crop.”
That is what Mr. Whylie said but from a Police Officer that has been in the Department for more that 10 year I can tell you that Mr. Whylie is talking nonsense. There are many officers that are discontented, and he knows it. Yes he is recommending persons for promotion who do not meet that criteria he mention that have “the persons who we believe has the necessary competence and skills and qualities and experience to be promoted.”
