Security guard Levi Brown shot and robbed
Fifty-seven year old Levi Brown was shot in the head just before news time Wednesday night. The security supervisor at J and B security was riding on East Collet Canal on Wednesday evening, carrying a knapsack. As he reached the corner of Dean Street Brown heard the gunshot and fell to the ground unconscious. When Police arrived on the scene his knapsack containing a deposit bag with checks and a point three eighty calibre pistol was missing. Brown was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he is listed in stable condition. Today we could not get a comment from Police, but it is believed that the motive was robbery. And for this long-time security guard, it is like déjà vu all over again. In 2006 Levi Brown was standing guard at the St. John’s Credit Union when an armed robber snatched his knapsack. In that knapsack was a deposit bag with almost eighty-thousand dollars in checks and, you guessed it, Brown’s point three eighty calibre pistol. At the time, October 2006, Brown reported that it was the second time he had been robbed at the credit union – the first time he had been shot twice to the side. We were told unofficially today that a bullet remains lodged in Brown’s head, though he is listed in stable condition. After surviving two bullets in his side and one to the head, Brown may want to rethink his career options.
This.called security company do not have a vehicle? where a supervisor could carry on his duties specially if is money that he is going to deposit. I do not agree that a supervisor should be not doing a supervisory duties on bicycle ,please give me a break!
Let me ask something, are employers so cheap and don’t give a damn that they put the lives of their employees at risk for a measly $100-$150 per week? Doesn’t anyone see the crime wave that has permeated our country? Does someone have to tell you numbskull employers to have a secure safe or make your deposits by a certain time? Better yet, how about having one trusted taxi who can come at a set time and make deposits with an arm security guard? How many more lives will have to be lost? Now, he may not ever be the same if he survives this last ordeal. Security workers need to put their foot down on these employers and demand some sort of safety guidelines. Yes, times are hard and we all need a job, however all your family will get from some of these cheap employers is sorry. Don’t depend upon any financial help or any follow-up after you’re dead and gone. You will be replaced the next day. You know how to combat that? Form a union of security officers and do it decently and sensibly. Don’t act like crabs in a barrel. Catch same Audrey Matura , since her mantra for now is still to champion the oppress, and also latch on to one of the established unions. Wish old Mr. Vaughn and Mr. Nicholas were still alive. They’d go to war for you. Do so fast!

We totally agree with the above comment. If you are going to have him carry deposits and cash why was he not in a cab? Why not help him with protection?
There is always people who look for the easy way to get money in life. They resort to violence to take it from hard working people. We understand there will always be crime and always be people struggling. It’s just sad to see this happen for a 3rd time to the grandpa to my 4 kids, the father to my amazing wife.
