Nicaraguan national acquitted of theft
Minister of State Edmond Castro was back in court today; this time he appeared as a witness in a case of theft. A Nicaraguan national, forty-six year old Oscar Hernandez was accused of stealing from Castro a number of tractor parts back in 2012. Hernandez was incarcerated for more than a year since he was denied bail due to the uncertainty of his immigration status. But tonight, he is a free man because the case against him crumbled due to errors committed in the police investigation. It was claimed that between October first, 2012 and December thirtieth, 2012, Hernandez dishonestly stole about fifty thousand dollars worth of tractor parts from Castro. But there was no evidence brought to court by the police to support the allegation that Hernandez stole the parts and furthermore he was never charged in a language he understood. Two witnesses were called, including Castro, but they did not help the police case and Magistrate Dale Cayetano dismissed the charge against Hernandez.
When you are a common man, worst yet an immigrant, and you are at the will of the police and the court to determine your fate but imagine a common man could easily be detained and encarcerrated for 1 year and to later find out police did not do their work to investigate and leave you to rot for a year in jail..where is justice? Castro did not win the case because of lack of evidence… WHAT happen to the money Castro that you swindled from GOB coffers and there are checks that prove that! Castro, you have some cojones to accuse other people to steal when you are the bigger thief! Note if this man Castro alleges to have stole from him was found that indeed he stole…he deserve to be jailed…likewise the law applies to Castro and all those corrupt ministers.
ha!ha! thief thief from thief! easy come easy go castro!
What the judge had to do is punish this ignorant and arrogant “HONORABLE”minister is to pay Mr.Hernandez for the time that he spend on jail for nothing ,Man what a shame this is unbelievable.
mein just to read this info makes you churn in anger to see how this scums thief we Belizeans in our face but they seem to be above the law but this common man (thief) or was wrongfully accuse spent yr in jail with no evidence (brings questions if the accusation was real or just for malice). damn!!!! how far has our country gone to such extreme of impunity on the side of the politicians, while the regular Joe’s get the hardest time in jail for petty crimes, like the old lady who stole current from B.E.L.
