Francis Fonseca remembers the political life of Marcial Mes

Leader of the People’s United Party Fonseca told us he got the news early Monday morning. Marcial Mes served as the P.U.P. Area Representative for Toledo West from 1998 to 2008 as a part of the P.U.P. Administration of Prime Minister Said Musa. Mes was the Minister of Rural Development and Culture, and later a Minister of State in that administration. Today, Fonseca remembered the man he knew professionally, and also very personally.

“He was the first full Mayan Belizean to serve in the Cabinet, something he was always very proud of. And we will remember him most of all for his absolute dedication to the people of Southern Belize. The people in those communities will remember him for bringing water, electricity, education and health care…he was responsible for many of these remote rural communities getting access to water and electricity, having schools and classrooms built in their communities, having health clinics established in those communities…that was his absolute focus and he loved the people of rural Toledo. So that is what we will remember him most for. On a personal note I consider him a family member. When I was a young teenager he actually lived in my home, going to Teacher’s College in Belize City, he actually lived in my home because of my father having been a teacher in rural Toledo and knowing his family, and when they sent him to Belize City…when he came to Belize City to study at Teacher’s College my father offered him an opportunity to stay at my home. So I grew up knowing Marcial Mes. He was an educator as well. Many people will forget that he was a teacher and a principal in Toledo. So he has lived a very, very good life, a life of service to his country, a life of service to his people in Toledo and a life of service to our party. And we will certainly miss him.”
Fonseca says that despite retiring from a life of active politics, Mes had continued to be involved in the work of the party.
Let this be a lesson to all.

Belizeans see the difference in leaders one leader has the deaths of over 4000 belizeans on his Hands and has yet to make an apology to the belizean people and here you have fonseca making an apology for one mans death it only took one persons death for this leader to offer his condolances but yet over 4000 murders and this pm has yet to apologize to the families of all the dead piling up at the morgue.
