Children over 12 Must Show Proof of Vaccination, Kids over 2 Will Need COVID Tests Too

As the vaccination and testing requirements for travelling through the land borders are being shared with the public, one question that has come up in online forums is: what happens if you want to take your children with you? On this morning’s Open Your Eyes, the hosts asked Dr. Julio Sabido, the C.E.O. of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, about the requirements for children.

“The protocol is that those 12 and above wanting to exit will be required to provide their vaccination card, they must be fully vaccinated. Obviously, those under 12 will not be requiring any proof of vaccination. There are no vaccines for that age group currently in country so we cannot demand that from that age group.”

“And will children be subjected to testing on their return?”

Dr. Sabido

“They will be subjected to testing, I think the protocol says 2 and above. It is the same thing that international standards are requiring.”

So, families will have to show vaccination cards for all children over 12 and budget for COVID tests for all children over two years old. The current price for COVID tests at the borders is the same as at the international airport, one hundred Belize dollars per person.
