Belize Taken off EU Red List
Belize has been taken off the European Union Red List, a position it had been given because it was deemed, “non-cooperative in fighting illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.” The announcement came via press release from OCEANA, which claimed that the lifting of trade sanctions is a result of improvements to international law obligations and the legal framework to address those deficiencies. In that release, OCEANA commits to supporting national efforts to maintain compliance with international regulations, ensuring that Belize remains off the black list, or in this case, the EU’s Red List.
When will the GOB take the appropriate steps to be removed from the lower tiers of the US Human Trafficking Watchlist???!!!!! When will Accountability & Transparency become a priority rather than only a campaign slogan??
