N.T.U.C.B. President Comments on K.H.M.H. Salary Debacle
While staff at the K.H.M.H. is looking to unionize, N.T.U.C.B. President, Marvin Mora, chimed in on the K.H.M.H. issue, emphasizing a need for employees to organize in order to proceed with a collective bargaining agreement.
Marvin Mora, President, N.T.U.C.B.
“We have always been advocating trade unionism , especially of areas of essential services in our country. If you notice the last time we had that scenario with the workers at the airport, if the union had not intervene probably that could have escalated to something worse. It is important that everybody who is out there as a worker try to get some kind of representation in a trade union so that you can have a collective bargaining system and then you can negotiate for yourself. You don’t have to have these types of situation where employees just decide to go rampant and let’s deal with it. Then you put the employee in a position where they might act outside of the law. But the trade unions follow the law, this is what we are doing here.”
Mora’s position on the K.H.M.H. precedes a protest being staged by the Belize Energy Workers Union following a breakdown in collective bargaining with Belize Energy Limited. That story comes elsewhere in this newscast.

every $%^&*()_ union wants automatic increases? what about merit system if you perform you get an increase? and why does an employer have to be extorted? this is the pay and if you don’t want it -go find a job elsewhere-or create your own business and pay employees. What about thanks for providing a job for me? hypocrites
