Snake Bites Nurse at Western Regional Hospital
The Western Regional Zoo…sorry we meant Hospital, is back in the news tonight, and as our viewers have come to expect, it’s not good. Just over a week ago a newborn baby was bitten by a huge rat while in a sterile incubator in the nursery at the hospital. And tonight News Five has confirmed that a nurse was bitten by a snake, just feet away from the emergency entrance at the hospital. It actually happened six weeks ago, at the end of July, but it was kept under tight wraps. According to the Ministry of Health who only found out about it when we queried it today, a nurse was leaving the nurses’ quarters on the Western Regional Hospital, reporting for duty, when a snake bit her on her left ankle. The panicked nurse was admitted to the general ward and we are told that tests determined that the snake was not poisonous. Still…it’s a snake at the hospital, on the hospital grounds, which has to be alarming. Today a Ministry of Health spokesperson said only that it underscores the agenda they have been trying to push – the construction of a new hospital to replace the old, dilapidated and animal infested facility. There’s some good news, we guess, since the EU has reportedly agreed to at least fund some new structures on the compound, if not an entirely new building.
