What Happens if Belize Votes NO?

So what happens if there is a NO vote? Well according to Assad Shoman, there is no clear plan as to what steps will be taken. Shoman says he cannot predict what will happen, prompting backlash from Attorney Audrey Matura and Former Border Commissioner Lindsay Belisle.

Assad Shoman, Citizens for the Defence of Sovereignty

“If we vote no then nothing is certain. There is nothing like that. No agenda. No nothing. It just means that we have not ended the claim. It just means that we have allowed Guatemalan to escape from the corner which we have succeeded in putting them now. If we agree that they go to court then they will forever lose the claim. They don’t have a territory. They have a claim, that imaginary claim. That bogus claim. They will lose the right to say that they have claim but if we vote no they will continue saying that they have a claim. What will happen? No one can predict.”

Audrey Matura, Attorney

“It’s disappointing to hear that if the people vote no then we don’t have anything. It then seems that the government presupposed that everyone will vote yes and that is bad. I like to think ahead and if they are so sure they got this then it means that you all will not get your registration card back immediately to go vote because I can’t see how they can be so sure that they got this.”

Lindsay Belisle, Former Border Commissioner

“If you vote no then you stop this runaway train because it is obvious that we are not prepared. You could see that from the public education campaign that is going on. We are going to the courts without correct information. We will be embarrassed. So we need to get our act together before we go to the court. They don’t have a plan if we lose. But the funny thing is that Guatemala already has a plan if we lose. They say that those in the area that the ICJ will give them could turn Guatemalans.”

Assad Shoman

“Can I just ask, Lindsay can you honestly say to the people here that you believe that there is a chance Guatemala will be given a piece of Belizean territory? Yes or no?”

Lindsay Belisle

“I don’t know.”
Assad Shoman

“Yes or no?”

Lindsay Belisle

“I don’t know.”

Assad Shoman

“Can you say with confidence that we can lose something at the I.C.J.? Yes or no?”

Lindsay Belisle

“If you could say with confidence that we will not lose then I will say…”

Assad Shoman

“What?”

Lindsay Belisle

“…that the court will rule.”

    Let’s consider this LOGICAL (IF, THEN, ELSE) scenario:

    IF, the occupants of Belize (formerly British Honduras) need more chronological and historical land acquisition facts as was presented by Mr. Lindsay Belisle, the Land Surveyor, who began referencing the mis-information that is in the world’s history book about the acquisition of these Americas, beginning from the stolen conquest of 1492 by Christopher Columbus; and then the referencing of 1493 with Pope Alexander the Fifth giving Spain exclusive rights and sovereignty over the region of stolen land; and moving forward to the referencing of 1783 with Spain illegally giving Britain rights to cut logwood and other natural resources from the same stolen land; and the referencing of 1798 where Britain defeated Spain at their illicit land ownership game; then the referencing of 1802 where Britain gave Spain sovereignty over the parcel of stolen land; and the referencing of 1817-1819 where Britain said British Honduras (Belize) is only a settlement of Britain; and the important referencing of 1821 when Guatemala declared their independence from Spain but was denied that declaration until years later; and since the reference that in 1863 was when Guatemala finally got their independence from Spain, therefore, Guatemala CANNOT use the 1859 Treaty between Spain and Britain as precedence that British Honduras (Belize) is theirs when the facts have suggested that the land of the Americas is still questionable as reparation to the Indians……. Furthermore, the referencing of the 1859 Treaty’s land survey need to be examined deeply in the archives that were not destroyed by the greedy occupationers (Spain and Britain, and France) about the correct longitude and latitude of the demarcation of the referenced borders;

    THEN, we could move further with a “NO” Vote in having an outside entity deciding the fate of the region;

    ELSE, we do the opposite of (no) which is (YES) as follows:

    IF we continue basing our evidence on all the facts and nothing else but the facts of how the land was initially inhabited by Spain and by Britain;

    THEN we should vote YES in letting an outside entity decide a ruling based on nothing else but such referenced facts.

    CONCLUSIVELY, the current occupants of Belize (formerly British Honduras) need to have their facts presented if they decide to go the the International Courts of Justice, noting that Britain has always stood by quietly (with little assistance after granting Belize its independence) and is therefore will continue to always be an accomplice to Guatemala ILLEGALLY using the 1859 Treaty as having rights to British Honduras (Belize)….

    Everyone wanting to take the claim, should have a Plan A, Plan B, and even Plan C. From the beginning, lone stupid people running this country.
