UNICEF Donates Cold Chain Equipment

UNICEF Belize has donated refrigerators for COVID-19 vaccination storage to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.  The handing over at the National Vaccine Building in Belmopan includes fourteen refrigerators that will be used for the cold storage chain in the districts.  According to UNICEF, the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the most vulnerable groups, while obstructing access to education and other basic social and health services for children.  According to global data, almost three million deaths among children under five years of age are preventable by vaccine.  UNICEF Belize is focused on optimizing Belize’s cold chain system to improve vaccination against COVID-19 and boost universal vaccine coverage.  Alison Parker, UNICEF Representative to Belize, delivered the equipment to Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness.
