Caribbean Vaccine Reluctance Survey Results Released

A survey conducted on COVID vaccine hesitancy in the Caribbean shows that much of the same reluctance people in Belize have to take the vaccine also exists among people in other territories and countries. Today, the Caribbean Public Health Agency released the results of the survey, in which six countries took part. There was some participation by Belize and the concerns among the unvaccinated here were similar to those elsewhere.  CARPHA shared that the main reason that people gave in the survey for not wanting to take the vaccine was that they were concerned about the possible side effects of the vaccine. Another reason people gave was that they thought the vaccine was developed too quickly, and a third reason given was that they did not know enough about the vaccine. Over two thousand individuals took part in the study, sixty-six percent of whom were females. Fourteen percent of the respondents were healthcare workers, sixty-four point-four percent of whom were vaccinated. But, while people did have concerns over the vaccine, the majority of them, fifty-one percent, were vaccinated.
