Two Portable Ultrasound Machines for KHMH
In some welcome news for the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization and the Government of Canada have donated two portable ultrasound machines with software and accessories to the national referral hospital. The devices will be used for treating patients in the COVID-19 intensive care unit for evaluating the heart and lungs, two of the organs commonly affected by the virus. According to a joint release from PAHO and the Government of Canada, the size, model and functionality of the portable devices allow for easy disinfecting while supporting patient and staff safety efforts. The KHMH staff will also be trained on the use and maintenance of the machines.
