Protocols Will Be in Place at Border: Minister of Health Does Not Expect Large Numbers to Cross
As we have been reporting, land borders are scheduled to reopen on Monday February seventh. We will be taking a closer look at those protocols later in the newscast during our COVID Chronicles segment. But today, when we caught up with the Minister of Health and Wellness at an event in Belize City, we asked him about the preparations that are being undertaken.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness
“We are prepared; we are prepared at the Ministry of Health to have our team in place. We are hoping that we can have a very smooth reopening at the border. Somebody asked me yesterday, do you think that Belizeans will flock the Northern Border on Monday, on the seventh? I doubt that. A lot of Belizeans are still worrying about what is happening across the border. And so, once everybody understands the protocols, I think there will be some smooth transitioning that will take place as we open.”
