Methodist church minister urges public for more relief donations
Exactly eight days after an earthquake shattered port Au Prince, the capital of Haiti, an aftershock hit the ravaged city around six this morning. The five point nine aftershock sent Haitians scurrying for cover. The death toll continues to rise and relief efforts are being impeded by what reports say is the lack of coordination. Millions of Haitians living abroad are desperate to make contact with family members. In Belize, the community is small. One active member is the Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Roosevelt Papouloute. Papouloute says his family was not affected in the blast since they did not live in the affected area, but says that any donation will go a long way in helping the quake victims.

“There are hundreds of thousands of people who are in need of medical assistance, food, water and homes and we can help them and children especially who are suffering because of the situation. So any help that would go towards helping those who are in need is very much necessary. Any effort that is being put in place to raise funds in whatever forms to help the Haitian people is welcomed.”
Don’t forget to join us this Friday night for the live concert at our Coney Drive headquarters. Proceeds will go to the Belize Red Cross for Haiti.
