Shyne gets turned away at the UK airport

Moses "Shyne" Leviy

Moses "Shyne" Leviy

Moses Leviy, the rapper also known as Shyne, has maintained a low profile on the local scene but big names in the music industry have been trekking to Belize in connection with a new album in the pipeline. The recording would be his first since his release from prison. But the news tonight is that over the weekend Shyne packed up and headed to London via Cancun but he ran into trouble with immigration officials over some glitches in his travel documents. The rapper was denied entry into the UK and was turned back. Shyne was heading to London to record his new album and was accompanied by an entourage that included one local artist whom he has recruited for his new release. But as he faced immigration issues, this past Tuesday, a song entitled “All my Life” featuring DJ Khaled was leaked on the internet. It includes lyrics from Shyne on his time in prison. Khaled introduces Shyne saying quote “From the streets of New York , where the streets don’t sleep, Shyne get ’em!, Shyne then raps  All my life I’ve been rolling with the D’s and the C’s, Steady ducking the police, ain’t a friend. When they take me ahead, they fill me with lead Until it come to an end, I’ll be bleeding in bed. I live slowly let you read in the F.E.D.S., Daddy wasn’t there but my mama was a gem. But I ain’t trippin’ though, that’s how I kill a flow”. Shyne traveled through Mexico since he cannot enter the US because of his conviction for assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession. He served nine of ten years at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in the state of New York for a shoot-out at a Manhattan night club.

  1. David E says:

All the best to Shyne and hope this is a wake up call to other youths in Belize and the world. Hope you put Belize on the map and have singers and music label companies invest in Belize.

  2. Common Sense says:

GOOD! comforting to see common sense still active in the UK! Good grief!! With all the shooting in the city, innocent kids being killed or disabled…..Belize should also join the growing list of countries banning idiots like this. How can he possibly continue “singing” nonsense. Send him back to the yank prison…..PLEASE.

  3. Brenda says:

Isn’t it the law in Belize that deportees, can’t leave the country for six months, and must report to the police station once a month.

  4. Proud Belizean says:

Hope this ex-convict is turned away from wherever he intends to go…and is sued out of every penny he owns for the crime he committed.

  5. Charles says:

Is anyone really surprised that the UK does not welcome known convicted felons?

  6. misha says:

What hapen to Belize why Shyne is dissing the place he can’t leave no more? Why he dissing his Dad?

  7. Jazz says:

Frist of all who said Any one was perfect! We all make mistake in life at some point we can’t change that but learn from our mistake,as for the relationship between him and his father let’s not judge. We don’t know the whole story about what went down in that club so all I want to say is shyne do your thing baby keep your head up.

  8. maddy van dijk says:

I think Shyne is a bad example for the youths of Belize; he is a disgrace to Belize, and a threat to the Belizean youth’s future.
Very often rap music sends the wrong message, and poor illiterate third world youths are more than often affected, because they see the fancy cars, the money and they want it, and they will kill for it.
The message he should be sending out to the youths should be that “no one is above the law”.

  9. wayne says:

Belize immigration dept should be made accountable & be forced to explain why a deportee was allowed to leave the country before the time specified by Belize Laws.

Using this ONE EXAMPLE explains why the place is in such a MESS , with so much LAWLESSNESS.

  10. Lany says:

lol- yeah Shyne, youused those who wanted to be used and now redemption day has come. I am glad that even though our juducial system, police/ and daddy ( who wasn’t there) backed him up and gave him his PUP VISA to leave the country. There is somewhere in the world and can say NO. Shyne you are a deportee and should be treated as one. Yeah Daddy wasn’t there for a lot of us, but we ain’t no deportee. You had a choice and you made your ” Bed hard, so shyne boy ,sleep on it.

  11. SugarDee. says:

Listen up criticizer… There is a thing call FORGIVENESS!! and if there is no one to find it in their heart to forgive, you be the first to start.. And how dare you Common Sense to write such thing about Send him back to the yank prison… Do you have a son or even so a child? You sound like a hater.. Let’s find it in our heart to forgive, starting with you!!

  12. candy says:

well maybe didnt get much attention from his father

  13. mother love says:

i always believe a child needs a second chance ,dont run him down we all make mistakes .uk we harbor all kinds belize is like a refuge we have to believe in our selfs .we have to depend on the higher force GOD. our father .lets be nice to each other lets make a difference for the future belize our kids our grandkids God bless you all ,

  14. Mary says:

when shyne entered Belize after his deportation, it was blown way out of proportion. Just because his absent father is the present prime minister. If it was any other poor Belizean had been in his shoe they would have definitely not been brought onto the cameras. This was very misleading to the youths of Belize; continuing to let the poor black youths feel like you can do wrong and get away with it…………..
    think people

  15. Kriolgial says:

I agree with the preceeding comments. Instead of giving thanks that Belize has ‘welcomed’ him back after being deported, he seems to have this mentality of “anywhere else but here!” like if Belize is some black hole with no prospects. This is exactly the view that some Belizean-Americans have of the country. I should think that with all his connections, Shyne should be trying to set up a recording studio right here in Belize – it can be done – where we can start producing quality music instead of thinking “Belize nuh gat dis and Belize nuh gat dat”. Bettah he jus find suhwey else fu live man – if y could find suhwey else fu live!

  16. TASHY says:

Why you all hating on this man, I don’t know him and don’t care to know him, It seems to me he wants better for himself and if he can’t get it in Belize, why is it wrong for him to go get it some were else. You all act like he’s the only person that done wrong, ok he did his time for what ever he did, now he’s out and he want more for himself. Maybe some of you should try reaching for better things aswell. The thing with people these days, they don’t look at thier own lives and try to change it so it could be better, instead they hate on other people who are working to change there own lives. PEOPLE go and make better your life, as he is doing.

  17. […] as if Shyne just can’t catch a break. According to Channel5Belize, Moses was denied entry into the United Kingdom at Heathrow Airport. Because of his immigration […]

  18. indy says:

I believe that everyone should get a second chance.shyne did his crime and he did his time give the guy a break.everyone make mistake and if u r working to make a better life i will alway give him his respect.he is a good person and the reason i said that is because he was raise by his mom and his mom is good people.shyne i hope whatever u put ur mind to do u can do it and dont let no one tell u diffrent or try to put u down they r just hater.big up to u and whatever ur future hold.

  19. DR,J says:

it is so sad to see and read all the negative thing people say,
people it is so easy to stay and say negative, but very had to say and stay positive.
be positive learn to humble your self and make you and belize a better place to live and grow.
GOD IS A GOOD GOD HE LOVE EVERY ONE AND WANT TO BLESS EVERY ONE.
    have fate not hate.

  20. Cruso! says:

Only Jah can judge U bro!!!

  21. real says:

lets be real, he born and grow here. No matter what he did in the past we must show him love. yes he got deported, but what,he dont stop, he is hungry and want to eat. how can we put Belize name out there? talent is here and we wont see it if we keep on discourageing our own. Di man even took someone from here, hell man once one makes it we all makes it.

  22. OriginalWoman says:

All the best to you Shyne!!! Some of you ppl are seeing things through rose colored glasses, and really your words only show how hypocritical you truly are. You talk as if you can and have never done any wrong, or don’t have a relative or know someone who has done some type of wrong. The truth is, you live in glass houses, so if others were to throw stones your houses would collaspe!!! You should stop decieving yourselves. Him not being raised by his father is not an uncommon experience these days for children, neither is it news to Belizeans. We already knew that. His father never denied him and he is not denying him now. Shyne’s last name is Barrow and he is the splitting image of his father. Whatever they might be experiencing because of the absence in each others lives will, hopefully, work out for the best for both of them. It is their personal family affair. Not for your judgment. Shyne did the crime and served the time. What else do you want??? Many of you need to be behind bars, you just haven’t been caught yet!! I believe Shyne can definitely be a good role model for troubled youths in Belize. Being a celebrity rap artist alone, got the attention of the youths. If he is sincere, he can use this to help turn their lives around in a more positive light. With all the gang violence and murders that seems to be part of the NORM for Belizeans daily life encounters, he is a deportee trying to make a good difference. I take it that, you ppl are not deportees, but citizens of Belize…..WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR THE TROUBLED YOUTHS IN BELIZE????

  23. reuben says:

Mien, what happen to some of the above people, why unno so bitter. This man don serve his time in jail and should be given a second chance, this is the reason why convicts cannot reform.

  24. norma jean says:

leave the young man alone i have seen and heard of people doing worse things and yet get to do and go wherever they want if he was white he might have been in london england anyway what did he do to you people that you would like to see him go down, i would like to see him rise again as a possitive young man he is one of us and we should support him and pray for him ,remember, wash your own dirty laundry befour you try to wash someoneelse SHYNE hold your head high and keep reaching for the sky

  25. Cayogial says:

Shyne, dont give up mein, to all those haters, they are just jealous cause they cannot achieve what u have achieve even though u spend ur time in jail that does not mean that u cannot achieve what u plan to accomplish. So Shyne continue to do what u plan to acomplish and remember Belize is a jewel.

  26. Corozal gial says:

..people deserve second chances in life..let them learn from there mistakes..why cant belizeans just come together as one instead of living a messy life… peole choose there way of living…youths of belize choose to live the way they do they need to open there eyes and realize its there life if they dnt care nobody will.. shyne isnt GOD he is tryin to make it maybe the only way he knows how…ever think of that?? stop and think things thru before u point fingers put yourself in his shoe …he did the crime and serve the time already let go of it let the man live his life….

  27. cutty ligiyaba says:

That sucks– I dont believe he got any thing bad with England, just doing music. It is wrong to condemn a person who have served their time where they committed the crime. thats just wrong to turn him back.

  28. capri says:

well its sad to hear that our belizean bro having problems to enter another country. well that is law regulation. but one thing though that the authority though we are not perfect and we learn from our mistake. that don’t mean that we can’t become who we want! there are many ways that shyne can over come. TO THE WORLD I WANT TO SAY THAT THINK BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING WE SHALL LEARN FROM OUR BROTHER MOSES LEVIY “SHYNE”. go fort let belize start showing its talent.

  29. bengie says:

The Christ says you should forgive. Mr Levy stand strong, you have paid the price. This is Belize, this is home, you need not their forgiveness or approval.

  30. Elgin Martinez says:

It’s hard for me to believe that with all the tribulation Shyne is going through with these foreign countries that his father is still making Belize as a safe haven for all these foreigners.Belize need to make amendments to it;s immigration law.Every cat and dog are accepted into our country .Wake up Belize if it was an American or British Diportee who was intercepted at the Belizean AirPort, the Belizean Government would have gave him or her Belizean Citizenship.

  31. BelizeBorn says:

Its sad to see our Belizean so bitter… Thats why we never made it now where. The Chinese and Hyndu come in our counrty and do what the hell they want, but u all pefer to hate on your own, instead of suport your own…. Why are y’all looking at the speck in Shyne eyes insted of looking in the plunk on Your own eyes ( Matthew chapter 7). The reason why the young man have to run from Belize is because of y’all is so hateful and negative. Look at his back ground, some of u dont even know him like that,( just found out about him 3mths ago). He let it know He make more money in U.K. than any where else in the world, so let him do his thing, all of u hating on him u, some of your would, Porbably do the same thing. He cant stay in Belize and sell his record, cause u all will not support him. Y’all have too much hate in your heart clean up your heart and let the man do his thing. There’s only one perfect man so who we to judge. Leave the man ALONE so he can make his bacon. IF U DONT HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY THEN SAY NOTHING. P.s belize born but I can live in Belize cause y’all are so negative and have so much hate in your heart clean up your heart.

  32. grigakid says:

It is sad to see that there are a lot of Belizeans who are really not able to put things in prospective. First Shyne has served his time, this excludes him from the list of people who have to report to the police on a weekly basis. He was deported on an immigration technicality that came into effect after he was given his prison sentence.
People in belize must learn to love there own, we will buy and glorify the same music if it was done by an american, why not do the same when it is done by one of our own.
I believe that for any Belizean to be turned away by the British immigration is stupidity. On a weekly basis american rappers who have committed crimes along the same lines are admitted into the UK, why is there a special category created for Shyne? I believe that it is there joint effort with the US to try to stop the Shyne’s growth in the industry. Remember the the same thing could happen to any one of us.

  33. desmond says:

if he had get into u.k he was never going bak to B.Z why? belize is too slow 4 him but now he dont have no choice how about that.

  34. Brad says:

The sins of the parents fall upon the children. Go figure that out.

  35. Freedom says:

It’s sad to see people bash others, a disappointment. Shine committed a crime and did the time for his offense, however, he’s still human and we all make mistakes. The very people sending negative message pull the covers back and open the doors in your life and question how many secrets are hidden that no one knows about. Shine faced his situation whether he did it or not. As a people we are not judges, there’s only one judge and that’s god, so have a heart of forgiveness and speak positive things into people lives. If negative sit at the doors of your lipis that maybe the individual need to do some inventory of themselves because i’m sure there no perfection in our sinful nature.

Peace and Shine Be Blessed and keep pressing you maybe delayed but never denied. Focus on the gift of music and look at the other options. If you can’t get to the place where ur music needs to be developed be mindful and bring it to you. Technology is beast.

  36. Elgin Martinez says:

It’s a shame how we the Belizean people hate on Shyne so much when infact we patronize every Jamaican Artist that goes to Belize. This is the reason why we can’t accomplish anything as a people. We are to divided. What about you all stop …….. about Shyne and start supporting the local artist at home.I can gurantee that the Jamaican artist make more money than our local Belizean artist when they perform in Belize. So lets stop criticizing this man and look at ourselves. This man did his time furthermore none of us knew what transpired in that club.

  37. macal rivera says:

give this young man a chance, cause when you point your index finger at him your big finger is pointing back at you, Jesus said who ever don’t have a sin throw the first stone, you all have thrown so many stones that when they fall back on you, you will not be able to get up, believe me, and you must remember your little children are right behind you, Jesus said if you can’t forgive then your heavenly father will not forgive you your sins. To Shyne I say accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour and shine for him whereever you go, nothing is impossible for GOD, he can change people, Shyne you do the possible and God will do the impossible.

  38. Ras says:

My people lets put the pass behind us and reach for the future. We all make mistakes y is his so different?Bro do u the only judgement u should worry bout is the judgement of jah.Reach for ur gold, however and wherever.May jah guiide and protect ur path.PEACE.

  39. Rodolfo Ramos says:

Sadly to say that the country is so corrupted he can hide under his fathers(Prime Minister) wings and doing as he wishes, how can he afford a million dollar rental apartment just after getting out of prison from USA………………only in Belize can this happen, I think this ex-con may have outrunned Jim Walsh of Americas Most Wanted but he will be back …….

  40. Tuneh says:

Who among us has not sinned, who among us has not fallen into temptation, who among us has not wronged another person? If you are that person, then go ahead-cast the first stone. Isn’t this what life is about? We fall, then we get right back up again; we make a wrong choice in life and we learn from it. We Belizeans are a forgiving people, and we take care of our own. Shyne is one of us regardless of his circumstances. Let the man be; let him live in the pursuit of freedom and happiness like all of mankind hope to. Give the man CPR, don’t leave him in the hands of peril! Enough already!!!

  41. Jazz says:

If shyne wanted to move to the U.K what does that do to you haters he have never ask any one of you for any thing and then y’all want to know why BELIZE is the way it is a lot of bad minded people shyne don’t need any ones forgiveness he didn’t do any thing to any one of you what he did he did it to him self so let him be. To all you HATER teach your children to be perfect humans and make sure they don’t ever slip and slide along the road side and don’t ever have to be judge by any one if it was your child best believe me you would have been on every media house complaining . Shyne you made it, music is your LOVE so keep loving it and forgive those who wish to see you fall they would want to be in your shoe.

  42. BetterBelize says:

I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH SHYNE BUT I AM CONCERN AND REALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT OUR LAWS ARE NOT BEING ENFORCED. ACCORDING TO THE LAWS APPLICABLE TO ORDINARY DEPORTEE, A DEPORTEE SHOULD BE SIGNING AT LEAST ONE A MONTH AND CANNOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY BECAUSE THE POLICE SHOULD HOLD HIS/HER PASSPORT.

THIS IS A CLEAR EXAMPLE THAT THE CUSTOMS OFFICERS DID NOT UPHOLD THE LAW BECAUSE SHYNE WAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW OF BELIZE. IS HE BETTER THAT THE GRASSROOTS BELIZEANS LIKE YOU AND ME?

I AM CERTAIN THAT IF THE MEDIA GO AT THE POLICE STATION TO REQUEST THE SIGNATURE OF THIS PARTICULAR DEPORTEE, THERE IS NO RECORD, WHY? THEY TREAT SOME BELIZEAN AS SPECIAL IN COMPARISON TO OTHER BELIZEANS!

MAY JUSTICE ALWAYS BE ENFORCED AND UPHOLD REGARDLESS WHO YOU ARE!

  43. thorthegreat says:

yes the guy served his time trying to help out someone he looked up to (or so he thought) (that he was helping out) though he was screwing himself at the same time. he is also a child of close family friends and it is painful to see how nasty and hurtful some of the comments are that have been left by others; i like what someone said before, there are many out here who have yet to be caught doing something underhanded… no one is free from making mistakes, we all fall short of the glory of GOD; whether it is shooting, hitting, gossiping, killing, maiming, being spiteful, disrespectful, unkind, mean, not loving, raping, commiting fraud, adultery…. the list goes on and on….. look inside ourselves and try to figure out how we would feel when faced with similar situations, none know how they would react in a tense situation that requires quick actions; none can say definately how they would react; honestly, just give it a quiet moments thought and always GOD is willing and waiting for us to seek HIM for forgiveness and love HE turns not one away… may the guy find real peace and happiness true contentment that only GOD can afford, he also may have wanted a fresh start somewhere else where no one knew his name or face

  44. Common Sense says:

Let’s start with a few basics:
    1. Life is short, all of us dont have much time until judgement day.
    2. Shyne has been tested, shown the results of his previous actions, and given a second chance
    3. Instead of learning from this test, and starting fresh with positivity….back to the same poison spewing nonsense.
    So:
Is this the message Belize now wants to export? Contrast with Andy Palacio exported positivity and love.
Come on Shyne! You are given the opportunity to provide so much positivity in Belize, you must of reflected on this during your time locked up – you changed your religion, your name. Money could not of blinded him to the reality of this life here, a lot of people are looking up to you for inspiration and example to lift out of the negativity here.

Shyne….you contributing to negativity or positivity?

    Sallams.

  45. Al says:

Shyne, made a mistake when he was a very young man, he paid for that mistake, why continue to persecute him. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. There was one perfect man and that is Jesus Christ, so look at the thumb that is pointing back.

  46. Country Gyal says:

YOU SELFISH BZEAN’S,no one is perfect,he did the crime and pay the price,u pple are so judgemental,.Give the guy a break, that’s why Bzean’s never ge along and be fruitful we are quick to judge others and not look within ourselves first.Keep your head HIGH Shyne best of luck…….

  47. mello gial says:

I do believe that he used a firearm and was incarcerated, which makes him a convicted felon, I do not know about Belize (I am a Belizean but left 40 years ago) but most countries will not grant
you a visa. My question is…why did Shyne leave the USA when he had such “Great connections”?

Use a gun go to jail, true enough, he paid his dues, but consequences are sometimes brutal.

Stay busy, prove yourself, and stop all the spending before you get eaten up by society. Everything has a time and a season….Rap music ain’t no different.

  48. gentle giant says:

When Shyne was making money in the USA no one in Belize kne about him excepting P Diddy and JLO!!!!!Why now everyone is asking Belizeans to be so kind, patient, judicious, loving, embracing and thoughtful?? This guy has no choice but to start turning his life in a different direction. He owes it to himself not anyone else. When the cash runs out, let’s see how much love you will have for him? Remember Marion Jones? She was Belize’s sweatheart, she went to jail, got her Olympic record and medals snatched away, suddenly her name is “MUD”
Shyne would be no different, his name was not spoken with kindness when people believed he took the rap for P Diddy!!!! He goes to Belize, and start spending money and living high on the hog, got some wiley yankee follow him around, changed his name, and horale…he is a good Belizean, give him a break. You are so fake, stop this nonsense Belize? Be true to yourself.

  49. Bzn/American says:

Somehow we as Bzns or Bzn/Amer are so quick to criticize our own. Try standing in front of a mirror and then judge. This country is so full of bs that we tend to look the other way out of embarrasment. If the govnmt would do more for the people then our people wouldn’t have to leave the cntry. All our lives u tell us to go to school but when school is over there’s no work. It then comes back to who u know and not what u know. So many fathers r out there not taking care of their kids also mothers abandoning kids to the US. Instead of riduculing our citizens we should as loyal citizens come together to try to better the country starting with the govnmt. hipocrits everywhere/drg dlrs/politicians/ and all/ do more for the cntry & the pepl will do more for u. why are there more foreigners owning everything in the cntry than our own pepl/ the cntry should apply the same rules to all foreigners as well/ we have the potential to BE one OF the more powerful 3rd class cntry but we are too ignorant & too quick to pass judgement that we should be passing amongst ourselves/look at the crime rate in the cntry/ I guess the mentality of the people is in line with the government ////NO ONES CARES//// BUT WE ALL WANT RECOGNITION///ITS A SHAME///OUR LITERACY RATE IS 94%/// WE SHOULD START SHOWING IT///

  50. Erlett says:

Everyone makes mistakes in their life, it’s when we learn from them and try to make a difference thats when it really matters. I have been a fan of Shyne from the stat and will always be a fan. He is a born Belizean and has made it big and i am proud of him. Big up shyne hold your head high only God can judge you.
