Belizean running for president in Guatemala

Sandra Torres and Alvaro Colon
Presidential elections in Guatemala will be held in November 2011 but the news today is that Sandra Torres, the powerful wife of sitting President Alvaro Colon has for the first time publicly acknowledged her bid for the presidency. It is all interesting because Torres has Belizean roots through her mother, Teresa Casanova de Torres, a former Mayor of Melchor de Mencos and her sister, Narda Garcia. Torres’ early education was at the Sacred Heart Primary and High Schools in the Cayo District. Colon is known to support a resolution to the dispute of the Guatemalan claim to territory and it can be expected that Torres will follow the same line if she were ever to be elected. According to a report on Prensa Libre of today, Torres has the backing of her husband’s party, the UNE and also enjoys the support of two other major political parties, the FRG, and the GANA. It was long suspected that Torres would have entered the presidential race but the spirit of the Guatemalan constitutional prevents blood relatives of presidents to enter the race. That is a challenge she will now put to a test.

she’s a treator keeps an eye on her might want to invade our jewel. bring the fbi to track their family actions if she wins. hope she never reaches presidentcy elections.
The above statement is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read and now I feel 50% dumber for having read it. You are a version of redneck but Belizean.
Although I agree that BELIZEAN PRIDE comment sounds more personal than harmful, I also have to agree that she/he is also entitled to his/her own opinion.
You just did to her/him exactly what she/he did to Sandra Torres and Alvaro Colon.
I am having a hard time deciding which one of you needs to be pistol whipped right now.
“The only way to achieve peace is through respect for each other.”
You people seriously need to proof read what you type before you hit that submit button. ‘Treator’? The word is spelled ‘traitor’, Belizean Pride. ‘You are a version of redneck but Belizean.’ Wow. That’s well done islander. Now I know which side of the Mason-Dixon line you came from. And Maddy, good lord. ‘The only way to achieve peace is through respect for each other.’ Is that before or after the pistol whipping Vandijk?
Have you got rocks between your ears? THANK YOU for the spelling correction and i was only commenting my point of view. But if i offended you in some way or the other am sorry just to show you the way it should be with respect and acceptance corrections makes people a respectful person. Maddy no hard feelings you saw my intent of view and it’s kinda personal with guatemalans that was my view. Islander if you felt dumd bro your on your own. we didn’t know you you felt so. Jah Bless
that’s the reason why we Belizean can’t get no where in live because of conflicts, just let who wants to express how they feels on a point and you express yours …. to me she is like any other politician….she won’t resolve nothing just blind promises
This is Fun, Last Week I “submitted” my (12 step proposal) pertaining to the Crime Wave, and now I will call it as it is, Murder Wave, sweeping across our Old Jewel Belize.
But first, and foremost: The issue of a Belizean Guatemalan, or is She? considering running for the Presidency of Guatemala, hits right at home, with the issue of Nepotizism and keeping it in the Family, ie George H. Bush & George W. Bush, USA = Economic Downturn.
This Culture of Phenomenon, is called Cociocentric Thinking, it only breathes Dominant Prejudice.
But then again, the Essence of Democracy, is the Freedom of Choice:
Correction (s) to my “last week, and today’s comments.”
I meant (90) days, and not (09) days, and the word for today is Sociocentric, and not Cociocentric Thinking.
Let’s keep our head up Folks, I am Embracing Technology today, look from whence we came.
