Jamaican drug kingpin Christopher “Dudus” Coke is still at large, but Harold Crooks the former commandant of the island’s Special Constabulary Force was arrested this morning at the Ocho Rios Pier in Saint Ann, Jamaica. Crooks was on the run since March of this year when allegations surfaced that he and another man had sexually assaulted a minor. Crooks was detained on the vessel, Carnival Liberty, which arrived in Jamaica from the Cayman Islands after leaving the United States, according to newspaper reports. When the allegations first became public Crooks denied having sexual relations with the girl before her sixteenth birthday. He disappeared the day before he was set to meet with Jamaican investigators and his lawyer claimed Crooks had no faith in the justice system. Crooks is a household name in Belize because he penned the famous Crooks report which gave a critical view of the police department and made recommendations on the way forward. GOB has said several times that it will implement these recommendations.
