Renal Kidney Failure patient needs your help

farrah jones

You may remember the name Farah Jones from a City Council scandal involving the embezzlement of sixty thousand dollars. Jones was accused of stealing half that amount, but maintained her innocence and has not been charged. Today when she came to our studios, Jones definitely didn’t have thirty thousand dollars; in fact the Renal Kidney Failure patient can’t afford the dialysis treatments that her life depends on. Over the past year, both of Jones’ kidneys have collapsed, her lungs are now giving in and she is desperately in need of financial assistance to pay for dialysis and more importantly to go abroad for a life saving kidney transplant.

Farrah Jones, Chronic Renal Failure Patient

“I need fi do dialysis now three times a week cause di kidney permanently shut down. I noh have the financial assistance weh I need in order fi do it. And everyday ih di get harder and ih di get worse because I di run out ah time and my lungs dehn di close down.”

Delahnie Bain

“So how much is the dialysis?”

Farrah Jones

“Four hundred and fifty dollars fi one session.  Right now I di do it two times a week and I still di get affected because mi body swell, I can’t breathe normal, I noh sleep fi days because I have to sit down up every night.  I di plead to the public, I di plea. I have four kids I want live fi si and ih noh di turn out possible. My kids can’t stand si me like dis no more.”

Delahnie Bain

“You also want to try and get a kidney transplant?”

Farrah Jones

“I need—dat dah mi only hope ah survival; one kidney transplant. If I noh get dat I noh know weh wah happen.”

Delahnie Bain

“Do you have any idea how much that will cost?”

Farrah Jones

“One hundred and twenty thousand dollars ih wah cost me fi di surgery, fi travelling expense and just my basic medication.  There’s nothing I can do but pray and have hope that somebody will help me. I deh bout every day ah my life di look fi help and ih hard cause everybody tell dehn can’t help me. My own area rep tell dat he can’t help me until afta December and I noh sure if I have ‘til December fi live.”

Jones can be reached at telephone number 625-7857 by anyone who can offer assistance or a deposit can be made at Belize Bank account number 695-222-86-181.

Belize is a small country and the goverment can assist and ensure that all it’s citizen are given the best and proper medical treatment, the government can asist this young lady to obtain her transplant to live and take care of her child to stop the cycle of mother-less/ father less children roaming the streets that may lead to criminal activity in the longer run…How much is a 2010-2011 Toyota Prado at Belize Diesel over $150,000 and these minister just walk in and walk out with the top-of the line model—-OUR TAX MONEY and how much does this young lady needs just about the same…a damn shame…

  2. roots economist says:

last time I checked, Universal Health Services/BHPL owed DFC, GOB and SSB how can they deny services to this patient.

  3. curious says:

Shame on this Government; they criticized the previous administration for keeping dialysis private and now, 3 years later, they are still paying UHS/BHPL millions of dollars to treat a few dialysis patients, when they can treat all of them at the Public Hospitals.

The longer this administration stalls, the more children will become motherless, or fatherless due to kidney failure! MINISTER OF HEALTH: PUT DOWN THE FREE LIQUOR AND STOP DRAGGING YOUR FEET ON THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC DIALYSIS!
