i support the legislation of same sex marriage because gay people have rights too. gay people are human and belizeans just like any one of us. gay people can be our brothers, sisters, sons or daughters so why treat them any different? they have feelings too. when someone decides to get married, its a decision of two individuals so why should two gay person have to ask permission to get married? is Belize or any church paying their expense or sleeping with the couple? NO!!!!!!!!!!!

While I would not support legislation ro support same sex marriages, I would support the repeal of legislation that makes homosexual acts beteen two consenting adults in private a crime.

I the first book of the bible; it clearly mentions the definition of a marriage which it states that a marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN. No where in the bible it mentions that it is right for two people of the same sex should lie together in the same sex. Now for our politicians and NASTY gay rights groups to makes these changes will be condemned in the eyes of God. Do you think we should have that burden on our shoulders. I do not believe so
I support Gay people they are not the one’s committing crime out here! gay people are not divorcing as much as straight people are. they know the meaning of marriage better than us normal people. why make a big deal over petty things like this. they should focus on the crimes happening in belize, they should focus on how many children are not attending school. those are the issues we should be looking. why the church is fighting against gay people when their own priest and pastors are sexually harassing children. at the end of the day GOD will be the judge.

I do not support the legislation on same sex marriages because it is wrong and if such legislation is passed it with cause a domino effect were other persons who practice indecent activities will try to have legislation passed for them to engage in it, if this legislation is passed.

I feel this is rather irresponsible of Ch5 to run a poll about gay marriage less than 2 weeks before the Supreme Court challenge to Section 53 is to begin. This should be the time for public discourse on the merits of the UNIBAM constitutional challenge, not skipping past the matter at hand to bring up the issue of gay marriage (which is NOT what the Supreme Court will be considering). Opponents to the UNIBAM challenge are using gay marriage as a red herring to keep the debate away from the fundamental issue at hand; “Should it be a CRIME to be gay in Belize”? Perhaps that would be a more appropriate poll at this time considering that is the real issue before the court. Please do not distract the people from the real issue of the day.
What a nerve to start bringing up the idea of same sex marriage…especially in a time where we have bigger problems such as murder, gang crime, rape, sodomy, poverty, hunger, homelessness, etc…..disappointing.

Allowing same sex marriage and de-criminalizing homosexuality is like giving a suicidal person a weapon to kill himself with.These peope need the help of the society not a law to assist them with their deviant behaviour. Legalizing homosexuality and same-sex marriage is like giving a deadly weapon to a suicidal person. As a society we should be helping these people who are erroneous in their choice of deviant behavior and not assisting them. There are many individuals who are preyed upon and lured into this lifestyle because of abuse or the lack of some parental figure or the breakdown of the real family unit (male/female). Most certainly not. Our traditional Belizean values are rooted in Gods word, which denounces homosexuality. Our laws should protect and uphold these values. Laws that seek to destroy them are an invasion and an attack against us as a people and must be repelled tooth and nail. This is war and we must all stand firm and fearless in the face of it.
