US Human Rights equal gay rights?

Under Secretary Otero’s portfolio also includes human rights. Otero also met with human’s rights groups in Belize one of which is UNIBAM, the gay rights group fronted by Caleb Orozco. Otero, while seated next to U.S. Ambassador Vinai Thummalapally, explained to a media gathering at the House of Culture, that the U.S. isn’t trying to coerce nations into accepting its own progressive views.

“Through our partnership US providing support to Belize stronger public institutions to combat corruption and impunity and to strengthen respect for human rights especially for those most vulnerable groups in society: women and members of the lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community. Now although each country has its own unique culture, the United States continues to believe that human rights must be respected for all individuals regardless of gender, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.”

“In terms of linking this conversation of Human Rights for Everybody including LGBT, you are asking a question is there a connection, a direct connection; the answer is no. The Under Secretary was very clear in saying it’s not a litmus test on countries. If we use that litmus test; we basically have to withdraw aid from ninety-nine percent of the countries we are working with. So I would say I would be very comfortable in saying that the connection is not so direct.”

“If one looks at the principal freedoms that we have all signed on—your country and my country—that emerged from that very important declaration of the human rights; and note that those human rights extends to all the principal freedoms that individuals need to have. That for us is the point of departure in addressing these concerns. It is certainly one of the issues that continues to prevail in all societies because this does not imply that for us in the United States all individuals are given full freedom of their rights. We still have a lot of work to do in order to accomplish that.”
In the so call great USA everyone has rights.

Belize is not apart of the USA.. Leave your Gay rights there — we dont need it. Your influence on us is bad enough already!!!!!! We have men and women in belize… We can accept a few freaky men — but we dont need them to think they are a completely different gender. We consider them men who have female tendency….
Dirty Sugar I agree with just about all you said and the mess in the US surely needs some improvements, but remember, doing what is wrong just because someone else also did something else that was wrong, is no way to justfy your wrong: Like we say two wrongs don’t make right.
Gays, Straights, Transvestites, Transgenders, Protestants, Catholics, Muslims….We are all people and none of us have any more right to existence on this eartgh than the other. We are all people and should be treated humanely. They killed witches back in th day, they killed none whites even up till now…We as humans always find some other group to mistreat and this is simply wrong.
Can I ask where were the Bible beaters when the priests were and still is molesting children? Why didn’t they march with their signs and yell the religeous rehotoric out loud then?

Homosexuality is a perversion, not a right. It brings complete disintegration of a society. The colour you are born with is not a choice. To do sexual immoral acts with the same sex is a choice. There have been laws for thousands of years prohibiting that perversion for a reason. IT IS WRONG. Not only will the person suffer in this life but in Hell also if they do not repent. No matter how perverts try to convince others that it is right, they know that deep down in their heart that it is wrong. The price you will pay for your acts is very high. Women are meant to go with men and vice versa.
Dirty Sugar, the US often acts in a manner that is hypocritical… that’s true, but… it doesn’t change the fact that LGB’s are human beings,. and should have equal rights.
Please don’t confuse the issue… this is only about consenting adults… sex with animals or children is NOT a human right, those acts are a CRIME, because children and animals are not adults, and are not capable of giving consent, so that part of your argument is nonsense.
It’s funny how gays unite and get there way, yet the good people cannot unite to keep things in line. Belize has too many issues which the government cannot control for this to be added to the list. If America was so accepting of gays then why is it a man cannot marry a man for his green card. America just want to spread it’s filth for political reasons. I’m sure no parent likes when there child turns out gay but the governments around the world accepts it for votes. The governments runs the world and the good people are so mentally poor and gutless to unite against anything. I’m not a fan of Dean borrow or any government Belize has to offer but I would think Dean would be against this. Hopefully the gay world in belize doesn’t get big enough to to impact the voters world because it will turn politically pleasing to any government.
Maria, why don’t you take your bull s… and get back home. Belize can decide on it’s own what is value and appropriate. Plus, as an US expat I can tell you that there is a lot of work for you at home back in the US. Your job , which you make it look like it’s completed by coming here wanting to change things, is of no value and of no interest, and as far as I know America is a mess.
So, do Belize a huge favor and go sweet your front door. Go home and get glorified by that tittle of yours somewhere else. Belize as no need for you, neither do we American whom are leaving the USA . GO HOME !!!!!
