Barton Creek is one of nine best caves in the world

But not all that is published internationally is bad news. Barton Creek is being featured on the Mother Nature’s Network website as one of ‘nine of the world’s most beautiful and unusual cave destinations’ on the lifestyle-ecotourism channel. The website describes the tourist attraction as the ‘underworld’ by the ancient Mayans who inhabited the area and was used as a burial place. Human remains can still be found inside the cave. It is this unique history and amazing rock formations that make Barton’s Creek one of the most interesting underground attractions in Central America. Also featured on the channel are eight other caves from around the globe, but Mother Nature’s Network says the  unusual nature of these underground waterways makes Barton Creek Cave an attractive caving option, but it is the cave’s spectacular domed chambers that earn it a place alongside the world’s best cave destinations.
