What McAfee said to International Media

The story continues to attract the attention of the international media and McAfee gave another telephone interview on Friday to CNBC’s Robert Frank and Brian Sullivan. He told them that he is in disguise and has been hiding in plain sight, watching the police and journalists that converged on the island last week. And while police say they have searched both of McAfee’s properties in San Pedro and Orange Walk, he told CNBC that he is on his compound. McAfee was also asked about his involvement with Faull and if he has been in contact with the US Embassy. Here’s a clip from that interview.

“John, tell us first of all, where are you? You know you’ve been in hiding not telling anyone where you are all week? Can you tell us roughly where you are?”
John McAfee
“Roughly where I am? Well, where I am most of the time. I am certainly inside of my compound.”

“Ok, so you are still in Belize. Do you know anything about this murder? Did you know this guy who was murdered and did you have anything to do with it? This is what police really want to know.”
John McAfee
“I had absolutely nothing to do with it and I did know him but just barely. We’d spoken perhaps fifty words in five years.”

“And what, John, what is the end game here? I mean, you can’t hide forever. What is your ultimate goal? How is this going to pan out?”
John McAfee
“The ultimate goal is they will figure out who killed the man, they will have nothing to do with me, they will leave me alone or if enough international pressure is applied, not for me, but for simply the legal system here—again if you’ve done any research at all on the web, you will have discovered that the constitution here in Belize is basically been usurped. We are living in a near dictatorship where the legal system is subservient to the Cabinet. The abuses of the Gang Suppression Unit, by the way it is the gang suppression unit that invaded my property, that unit was created to deal with gangs. Why are they raiding an American businessman? Things do not operate here, sir like they do in the states. In the states I would be happy to turn myself in. This is not the states.”

“Well, I mean, what would happen? They will offer me some type of sanctuary where I will spend my days living in the embassy like poor Julian Assange or when I leave the embassy I will be nabbed by the police.”

“Do you believe then, they would essentially take the side of the Belizean government?”
John McAfee
“No, not at all, I don’t think they would take any side. They would do what the embassy is supposed to do, guarantee my safe passage to the embassy, speak to the police, and then what do I do? When I walk out do you think the embassy guards are going to prevent the police from detaining me?”
So sick of this SICKO !!! Can’t Belize revoke whatever papers he has and just deport him. He’s a deranged lunatic and Belize doesn’t need him or his pennies !!!
If you really don’t like Belize because of it’s government then why are you still here. All he is doing is make excuses to make others feel pity for him.
in spite of his roguish actions, mcafee is not insane by any stretch. on the contrary, his head is screwed on tight. what he is saying—near dictatorship, US embassy will not really help (well, not with the present ambassador, anyway), the GSU is operating ultra vires, he will be mishandled by the police if apprehended, etc—is true.

McAfee is a genius… And although i really dont understand what the hell he is still doing in BElize…. He is totally right the Government and the POlice… The GSU the whole system operates contrary to the way it is supposed to be…. Hell thats the reason why i left… my house got broken into twice police did nothing…. then they locked up a friend of mine as part of crime prevention…. because he was sitting in a park having dinner at 8 pm at night i would put my head under a machete cause i was there and saw it happen… Glad i left Belize… i hope McAfee does the same…

Wow the corrupt Gov of Belize and associated crime epidemiv are finally exposed to the world thanks to the courage of Mr McAfee and frequent news reports here in U.S. You will see very little tourist dollars from here on out which I believe is a HUGE part of yoir economy. People are rebooking vacations to safer destinations. Unfortunately this will hurt the good folks (what few there are). It’s time the honest citizens change the political climate in Belize before you sink any further..if that’s even possible. Open your eyes people. When the majority of politicians are corrupt, the police are corrupt, citizens are forced to pay bribes, light-skinned are targeted by police and criminals etc tourists will stop coming. You reap what you sew…sad to say
