Pregnant woman at Northern Regional’s horror story

There is another reported casualty at the Northern Regional Hospital where at least nine other victims have suffered from alleged hospital negligence. Over the weekend, a new born passed away soon after delivery and the mother’s uterus was severely damaged and removed.  Headi Chable told News Five today that she was admitted at about three o’clock on Saturday morning for childbirth. After hours in pain, she subsequently underwent a c-section and was later told that her newborn had to be referred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. According to Chable, she did not see her baby but was told by medical staff that he had difficulty breathing; he later died at the K.H.M.H.  Four women are already suing the hospital for negligence. News Five has received a copy of a letter that was forwarded by the Regional Health Manager, Guadalupe Longsworth, to the nurse who was on duty on the night of November twenty-ninth when Reina Gomez went to the hospital. In Longsworth’s letter, the nurse was accused of sleeping on the job while she was in charge of a critical patient. That’s a serious allegation since Gomez’ baby didn’t survive, but the nurse did not just sit back and take the blame. She fired back a two page letter, chronicling the events of the night. She claims that at around twelve-thirty-five on Friday morning, she detected persistent fetal tachycardia and placed Gomez on her left lateral position and on oxygen. The problem persisted throughout the night and while she sought assistance from the medical officer on call and Dr. Geovannia Orozco, the severity of the patient’s condition was overlooked and minor steps were taken. She summed up her letter saying that she detected the problem and signaled the alarm from early in the night and that baby Harmony could have been saved, if action was taken to address her condition.

THIS IS NO JOKE — BUTCHER MARIN MUST RESIGN OR BE FIRED!!!

Every day the Northern Regional Slaughterhouse remains open for business is an IMMINENT THREAT to the lives of Belizean women and babies.

Min. of Health Marin and his CEO, Dr. Allen, have failed us utterly — they have this baby’s blood on their hands for refusing to act swiftly to save lives.

Hey, hey, Dr. A, how many kids did you kill today?

Mothers and fathers of Orange Walk, storm the hospital, protest, strike! It’s your children being killed in that chamber of horrors.

I would close down Northern Regional Maternity Ward, it seems like a death trap. you are safer delivering in the jungles of Africa that in Orange Walk Hospital. Pablo Marin and Peter Allen have the power to stop the killing, but for political reasons that don’t want to fire the butcher Doctor.

How d hell are the people of OW not on the streets? This is way too much abuse and stupidity.

  5. marie says:

In OW there are Cuban doctors, Nicaraguan, etc. who care nothing about Belizeans. Who knows if they are really doctors. I remember once i accompanied some relatives at the Northern Regional and there was a lady who said that she had been waiting for two hours at the emergency with stomach ache. A Belizean asked the doctor whether he was going to let the lady die with pain. the doctor replied ” Pues si, voy a dejar que se muera, y que!” Of course he was not a Belizean. Why does not the government spend more in educating Belizeans to be doctors, nurses, etc.

  6. Sue says:

the reality is that Pablo Marin isnt even capable of defining “blood” or “life” as min. of health!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. toucan says:

Whatever happened to Dr Salinas? He would never allow any of those things to happen to his patients!
