Former British High Commissioner vindicated of allegations of inappropriate behavior

John Yapp

Former British High Commissioner to Belize John Yapp has been vindicated after a judge ruled that he was let down by the British Foreign Office in 2008. Yapp was yanked from service in Belize after allegations that he had touched the rear of a senior politician’s wife at a social function, and also that he had displayed inappropriate behavior towards women in public. Yapp, who was suspended from his post as High Commissioner with immediate effect, was never re-engaged at an ambassadorial level. Though he was cleared of the allegations after a full investigation, he never regained his professional status, and Yapp claimed before London’s High Court that it triggered a major mental breakdown. Justice Cranston has ruled that the Foreign Office acted in breach of contract and in breach of its duty of care, and awarded damages to compensate him for the losses. The precise amount of damages will be determined either through settlement terms or at a further hearing.

seriously, ec, if anyone touched my wife’s derriere i’d be flattered. i’d ask them straight away if they want to swing. besides gravity being what gravity is, the only people who will want to touch same hereafter are the fetishists and the necros. heed the line from the Troy screenplay: “you will never be lovelier than you are now,” and know how to appreciate that.

Do we know who made the unfounded and false allegations against the BHC?

read channel 7 news it has the name there it sounds more like a personal vendetta to the BHC than the mere fact of the action or crime accused.

Sounds like the once powerful Englishman did something to pi55 off Courteney and in return he has his wife fabricate these allegations to ruin his life.

I have no personal knowledge whether the man did it or not, but in diplomacy the representatives must be purer than Caesar’s wife if they are to be effective in representing their nations. It’s the nature of the profession, and people know that when they enter it. I’m not sympathetic with the BHC in this matter. Once he was accused of misconduct of that nature, he lost his value to his government. Just ask the Frenchman who was accused of raping a hotel maid in New York, and lost the position as head of the World Bank. He was cleared later, but never got back his name, and never got to run for President of France. Politics can be like pigs fighting in the mud.
