Governors of Central Bank from the CARICOM region

Glen Ysaguirre

Financial experts from the region are in Belize for the fourth bi-annual meeting of Governors of Central Bank from the CARICOM region.  Aside from the governors, other participants are from the CARICOM Secretariat, the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance, the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre, the International Monetary Fund and the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force. The two day meeting kicks off on Thursday and will be chaired by Glenford Ysaguirre, the governor of the Belize Central Bank. The Bank says that the discussions will focus on the performances of the region’s economies, their financial stability as well as on the activities of the international and regional institutions. Another meeting will be hosted by the Belize Central Bank in November after which the rotating chairmanship will be transferred to the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago.

All these countries are basket cases. They should start producing whatever they can produce most efficiently and stop with all these meaningless meetings . You don’t believe they are basket cases ? They are basket cases because they are always on the dole for everything from foreign donors. They have nothing and they keep their people oppressed and suppressed to preserve the oppressive past. And Belize is part of that . Well , good luck and good day.

I get nervous every time I see bankers in the Jewel. i’m afraid our politicians will run to them and try to borrow a few pennies more, to put us in debt farther, with nothing to show for it. Every politician we have from Mayor Bradley to PM Barrow is addicted to borrowing and spending, instead of balancing the budget, living within our means, and letting the economy recover from the many wounds it has had inflicted on it.
