Miss Fitness Belize makes Belize proud at Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Tournament
Belize has so far done exceedingly well in the Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Tournament. On Tuesday, Mister Belize, Rigo Vellos, and Miss Belize Fitness, Cricel Castillo, traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the prestigious Arnold Classic Bodybuilding Tournament at the Arnold Sports festival. The event is from the twenty-seventh of February to the second of March and on Thursday, the competing female took center stage. Both athletes are up against elite bodybuilders from around the world and Castillo did Belize proud. Of the one hundred and seventy-seven women competing in the preliminaries, Castillo came out eleventh, just one spot shy of qualifying for the competition. Prior to departing the jewel, Castillo spoke of her training in preparation for the tournament.
Cricel Castillo, Miss Belize Fitness
“Training has been crazy because up to the last four weeks, which is the month of February. I have to walk up early to do fasted cardio. What is fasted cardio, you have to do cardio fasted; not a drop of food in your system, you go and he has me doing high intense interval training which is a way of bringing down body fat really fast. So sprinting, anything like that, in intervals. So I go to the track and do my sprints or I go and I sprint on the bike or whatever form of high intense interval training I choose. I go eight-thirty and he trains me. I really don’t know what he is going to train. I don’t ask him until I am there. I just ask him what sneakers I need to wear—whether it will be weight training sneakers or running. I get there and he is going to say we are going to do back today, we are going to do legs today. I don’t ask him for the main reason of I don’t want to die in my mind ahead of time. And then I don’t ask him again for the four-thirty sessions. He would super-set like the craziest things. He super-setted pull ups, he super-setted dips, he supper-setted rolls that was the craziest one. Today, he super-setted heavy weighted squats and cleans with jerks. That is the hardest move ever to super-set. So training around this time is really intense. I can’t even begin to tell you how intense.”
Vellos, at this hour, is competing to try to qualify for the competition.
Congrats to Cristel and Rigoberto, they did great against tough competitions. Just for the record, Cristel competed against 40 competitors in her Figure. B class. There were 177 competitors in Figure being divided into 6 classes.
