Moses Leviy, the rapper also known as Shyne, has maintained a low profile on the local scene but big names in the music industry have been trekking to Belize in connection with a new album in the pipeline. The recording would be his first since his release from prison. But the news tonight is that over the weekend Shyne packed up and headed to London via Cancun but he ran into trouble with immigration officials over some glitches in his travel documents. The rapper was denied entry into the UK and was turned back. Shyne was heading to London to record his new album and was accompanied by an entourage that included one local artist whom he has recruited for his new release. But as he faced immigration issues, this past Tuesday, a song entitled “All my Life” featuring DJ Khaled was leaked on the internet. It includes lyrics from Shyne on his time in prison. Khaled introduces Shyne saying quote “From the streets of New York , where the streets don’t sleep, Shyne get ’em!, Shyne then raps All my life I’ve been rolling with the D’s and the C’s, Steady ducking the police, ain’t a friend. When they take me ahead, they fill me with lead Until it come to an end, I’ll be bleeding in bed. I live slowly let you read in the F.E.D.S., Daddy wasn’t there but my mama was a gem. But I ain’t trippin’ though, that’s how I kill a flow”. Shyne traveled through Mexico since he cannot enter the US because of his conviction for assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession. He served nine of ten years at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in the state of New York for a shoot-out at a Manhattan night club.
For all those out there who say Shyne is traveling too soon and should give up rap…music is this man’s life. He could be out there on the street using his millions the illegal way to get rich easy. This man is making the music that many of us will listen to on a daily basis for motivation. And from what I’ve heard he has recruited at least 1 Belizean to be on his new album with him. As a Belizean artist myself, I respect and appreciate that. Though he was never big on claiming Belize as his home, it is. And any true Belizean should have the man’s back. He will put Belize on the map musically and this might be an opening for much bigger things for Belizean artists.
Andy Palacio already put Belize on the map.Have you guy ever ask yourself what happen to the person he shot.how is the victim doing?all we talk about is what he is doing n getting.did he go back to the Youth Hostel and give them anything after he got his check,But for sure he is checking out the country.He could have been a good role model to the young people who is killing each other talk to them.They would listen from a man who pay his price.

Shyne is just a young brother who is trying to make it.He have the potential to be rich with his work, but he is not rich yet,and even if he was rich his money is his. He dos’nt owe Belize anything.He commit his crime in America , and he paid for his crime in America.

I personally do not care for Shyne either way, and would never listen to his music as I hate rap and hip hop….I do agree that Shyne is only in Belize because he as deported, and Andy Palacio did more for putting Belize on the musical map than Shyne can even dream, because Andy’s music was pure and original, and not another P Diddy sounding wannabe…..
Well, “Shyne” should have really thought about his future when taking the rap for P. Diddy’s crime…..There should be no surprise he has become notorious within the international community. I hope the $5-10 million that P. Diddy paid him off for taking the heat is worth it. He will never be at liberty to travel to the developed world. I say he uses some of his funding to start a music studio (the best) in the country of Belize…..Time will tell what will become of “Shyne.” I’m not predicting much….he’ll probably spend it all without doing anything for the people of Belize….I’m sure if you ask him, he hates the fact t that he finds himself in Belize…..No Chronic!!!

My point was that not all of us are like that (jealous or haterz). Like yourself I worked for the Government of Belize so I know what you are talking about. About not blaming him for the struggling people…YOU NAILED IT ON THE RIGHT SPOT. We need to change our attitude towards work. If I am unemployed, I happily work for 20 bucks a day rather than zero. Central Americans are taking up all the jobs because a lot of belizeans prefer to sit and do nothing instead of earn 20 bucks a day. I am Belizean and I am proud. My family and I work very hard for what we have and see how some people hate on the fact that once I didnt have, now I have. But let it be understood that not all of us are the same. I was on the plane coming back to the States, when I overheard 2 Americans talking… One asked the other if she was vacationing, the reply was no, she live in Corozal. I became interested in their conversation. To get to the point, was when the one that live in Corozal told the other that Belizeans do not care about each other, they care more about foreigners, because they can get something from them…
That made me so mad, even though I know it is true, for how can these people have any respect for us when we do not respect ourselves or each other…

I’m here in my bed, reading all this about shyne and what everyone feels about him and I just have to say that its sometimes really hard to get over the fact that my fellow Belizean, my brothers, the people that make my homeland so special would be so concerned about what one individual who doesn’t even want to be one of us [A Belizean] is doing with his time. I’m a student of UB, while in one of my classes (dont recall the origin of the conversation) my professor [A foreigner] said respectfully ” I’m not trying to say that Belizean are stupid….”, and a guy at the back of the class yelled ” atta we stupid”, the professor then went on to say ” no your not, dont say that”! when did we as Belizean throw our dignity on the ground and have the foreigners pitty us?

Read the Belize news every day and see how guns alone on the streets have changed the face of Belize today, Pretty cool, huh? (Quoting my dad, “I mean, back ‘in the day’, at the very least most of these scumbags would not carry a gun!”)
I hold a very strong opinion against any man or woman who uses a gun to instill fear or death on anyone for no reason at all.
This Belizean rapper is of course no exception to the rule, these days they don’t just want to beat you up. No. It’s no longer enough of a thrill, use a gun. It’s insane.
While some Belizeans back home will turn a blind eye or deaf ear and tries to deliver Shyne from evil some of us will not. Even if you’ve been fortunate to avoid the crimes (so far), you’ve seen the news – and how terrible it reads.
We are trying to eradicate guns on the streets of Belize to keep family and friends still living there safe from this sort of violence. Shyne is not the first Belizean to commit crimes overseas and he won’t be the last one either, but we think those other criminals should be sent to jail, be punish for their crimes, but not the rapper, he should be forgiven, set free, given another chance because he can put Belize on the map. His music is not relevant.
I assumed that those of us that viewed our opinions against this man shared the same interest to stop gun violence in Belize, and the rest of the world, and not about jealously itself.
Shyne is an artist. Artist takes what they see in their enviroment or from their experience and put into words or on canvas.Rappers did not create violence,they just report it.News reporter do the same thing.They let you know who shot who, who jacked who.They just tell it in a different format.There is a market out there for this art.
