It’s been four days since Danny Conorquie was murdered at the Caracol Mayan Site; on Sunday, he was laid to rest after an emotional funeral service. We have that story coming up. But tonight, there appears to be confusion, at least in government, over who killed the former tourism police special constable from Georgeville, Cayo. […]

The fact is that unless one of the murderers dropped a notarized confession complete with finger-print, blood-sample, picture and proof of Guatemalan birth…it is unlikely that there will be any legal proof that Danny Conorquie’s killers were Guatemalan. Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington certainly won’t move until he has that confession statement in hand. […]

Following the murder of Conorquie, Caracol has been closed indefinitely by the National Institute of Culture and History. While the murder of Conorquie is a tragedy, it is also a wake-up call. News Five has learned that only two tourism police officers are stationed at Caracol for two weeks at a time. There is no vehicle and no communication with San Ignacio, at least two and a half hours drive away. A highly […]

While the repercussions of last Thursday’s murder play out in local and, hopefully international circles, all that is of no concern to Tourism Police Special Constable Danny Conorquie. He was laid to rest on Sunday in Georgeville. News Five has been very reliably informed that the Ministry of National Security would not give permission for […]

Intimidation, violence, brutality, excessive force – it seems that almost every week these words are used where the Police Department’s most elite unit is concerned. The Gang Suppression Unit is supposed to be well trained and aggressive, but you’d also assume it means disciplined. On that last part, auto-shop owner Allan McCoy would strongly disagree. […]
